Happy Fourth of July!

Happy 4th everyone! Being in London on big American holidays has been one of the biggest disappointments. This year we were invited to a BBQ with good friends but my little Cate came down with a fever and had to be brought home from school. So we are staying put. Poor duck!  We're going to grill hamburgers at home anyway.

Sure wish I had a few sparklers!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll have to live vicariously through you.

  1. Trust me - I think it's harder to be a Brit in an America on this day (!)
Sorry you had a disappointing time, I do know what it's like to be away from home on important days. I'll watch some fireworks and cook a s'more as a toast to you tonight!

  2. Incidentally, in the spirit of July 4th, I've got a list going on my blog, of all the little things that make American great. It might help if you're homesick!!

  3. I agree with Ali, it's a weird day to be a Brit in America (although quite nice to have a day off in the middle of summer). You feel as if everyone else is celebrating with family and being patriotic. But it was a good excuse for another barbecue!

  4. Ah, we didn't do anything for the 4th this year. It just isnt the same in the UK. I've given up on thanksgiving too. I keep promising to take my kids to the US for a few of these holidays so they at least have some idea!

Go ahead, make my day!
